As of next week to health departments in the state of Mecklenburg, Cabarrus and Gaston counties to provide an H1N1 flu vaccine for those who want it.

People at risk from complications of flu are encouraged to get a vaccine. These groups of children and young adults up to 24 years, pregnant women and chronically ill, people who live with or care for children under the age of 6 months, health workers and first responders to medical emergencies.
Children under the age of 9 years and recommended two doses of vaccine about one month at a time. Older children and adults need only one dose.
In addition to receiving the vaccine, health officials point to the practice of good hygiene to prevent spread of flu. Include frequent washing of hands, for your cough and staying home when sick.
