With the increasing number of cases of swine flu in the previous 48-150, Ministry of Health in Nepal on Tuesday sounded the first alarm of swine flu pandemic, adding the actual number may be even higher since the attacks in remote communities will be reported immediately.
Ministry aware of the growing number of cases of swine flu as the two women died of swine flu this month, the first deaths reported in Nepal, after six months, reports of influenza H1N1 in Nepal.
Between two women, one 31 years Chitwan died on 5 December, after remaining in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Kathmandu Janamaitri for 25 days, while the other Bhaktapur district died on the 24th December at Bir Hospital in Kathmandu, Nepal's most ancient hospital.
The names of two victims remain hidden in the use of individual families. Kathmandu is the capital city hardest hit by the virus, which represents 35 150 cases.
32 cases of the pandemic, are reported in the district Kasko, a popular tourist destination on the border, while Indian Chitwan report of 23 cases.
Six more districts confirm the occurrence of influenza in pigs, including Lalitpur in Kathmandu Valley, another popular tourist destination, and Ilam districts, SUNSARA and Morang, located along the India-Nepal border
Faced with an increased number of cases of influenza in pigs, Nepal is poorly equipped to deal with this disease with a single laboratory in Kathmandu, where confirmatory tests can be carried out.
Most patients are men aged between 15 and 45 years, with 106 cases, is about 60 percent. However, the ministry said more than 99 percent of cases were mild and patients are treated immediately.
The first case of swine flu was announced in June, when three members of the Nepali family from the United States tested positive for the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.
